It was a no-brainer to apply when I saw the call for this show; because if you, the reader, have glanced at my works you’ve must seen how much I love painting florals. To be honest, it was hard decide which piece to submit and the winner was Mono-Payne! It is such a special one that not sure everybody could grasp the meaning behind it because first they should understand the process itself. In this artwork; I focused on only one color, one of my favorites; Payne’s Gray…and of course different ratios of titanium white added to it! Is white counted as a color anyway?!? A memory is always fresh at the beginning but as the time goes by it fades away, like the flowers in a vase. That’s the nature of a memory; you cannot keep it as lively as it once was. The ‘one’ color use symbolizes a memory that is faded, and creates a monotonous image. Does a memory have a color?? I am not sure, but felt like this shade completes the concept. I’m so glad it was accepted to ‘Art that Blossoms’ at the Portage Center for the Arts and it makes the show extra special that all the pieces were accompanied with fresh floral arrangements. The center also included poets from any age that read their pieces on the stage during the opening reception; I think it was a great way to include the literary art to an exhibition.
